We’re taking a break from Midjourney this week.

Once V6.5 is released…we’re going hard.

So we’re doing some extra Runway work.

Here’s what we got for today:

RUNWAY: REPEATABLE PROMPT STRUCTURES

Runway did us a solid…and we didn’t even know it.

By making us text prompt with GEN-3…we’re learning some things.

If we’re going to text prompt → Let’s use some structures.

WHY STRUCTURE:

For starters…If Runway puts out a structure for us to try.

It’s probably been tested A LOT…and it will work.

They are very community-focused (so look to them for more)

Here’s a few to play with ↓

PROMPT STRUCTURE 1:

Prompt Structure: A cinematic behind-the-back following shot of a [character/object] [movement] away from us through an [environment], [lighting], [color scheme]

Prompt Example: A cinematic behind-the-back following shot of the pope heading towards a balcony, walking away from us through a door to a balcony overlooking a massive crowd, high contrast lighting, contrasting red and whites.

PROMPT STRUCTURE 2:

Prompt Structure: An ultra-fast first-person POV hyper-lapse rapidly speeding an [environment] into a [environment]

Prompt Example: An ultra-fast first-person POV hyper-lapse rapidly speeding through a city slum into a window of a bustling underground rave party

PROMPT STRUCTURE 3:

Prompt Structure: fpv shot of [steering apartaus] riding down a [environment], 35mm style

Prompt Example: fpv shot of bike handle bars riding down a dense forrest trail, 35mm style

PROMPT STRUCTURE 4:

Prompt Structure: Neon outline of [object], illuminated on a dark background as vibrant colorful wavy lines appear and ascend.

Prompt Example: Neon outline of virtual 3D reality goggles, illuminated on a dark background as vibrant colorful wavy lines appear and ascend.

Try some of these out…then adapt them.

(That’s how you’ll get good).

LIGHTING

Last week we covered some basic lighting.

This week we’re going a little more experimental.

12 EXPERIMENTAL LIGHT TOKENS:

• Rapid Flashes: Quick bursts of light

• Harsh Shadows: Strong, defined dark areas

• Black Light: UV illumination

• Neon Saturation: Vibrant, colorful tube lighting

• Prism Lighting: Rainbow-like light

• Low-fi: Grainy, imperfect lighting aesthetic

• Search Light: Powerful beam

• Orange Color Gels: Warm, amber-tinted

• Hazy Streaming Light: Visible beams in misty air

• Fluid Rippling Light: Wavy, water-like reflections

• Light Shimmers: Sparkling illumination

• Geometric Projection: Shaped light patterns

Prompt Structure: [shot type], [subject + action], [lighting], [lighting description]

Prompt Example: closeup shot of a woman wearing sunglasses in an underground club, fluid rippling light

RUNWAY GEN-3: HOW TO USE SEED.

If you’re asking yourself WTF is “seed” in Runway?

(Don’t worry you’re not alone)

→ WTF IS SEED:

Every gen incepts from a random starting point within the Ai brain. That starting point is the “seed” (Its like a single needle in a haystack)

→ HOW SEED WORKS:

So when you use a seed number…it's like finding that exact needle. (Instead of another one in the pile.)

→ HOW TO USE SEED:

If you like certain elements of the video, but want to tweak others…You can use the same seed and adjust other variables. (It’s like making a pizza with different toppings)

→ WHY IT’S IMPORTANT: 

It can help visual consistency…but if you have a “video structure” you like You can translate it to another gen.
