NEW CHEATSHEET + A WAVE MIDJOURNEY RELEASES

Character Consistency Explosion

Fam,

I feel like i’ve been gone for a month.

Took a vacation with my family…and everything changes.

(Classic)

This is going to an MJ-heavy edition today.

We got a lot to talk to about.

HERE’S WHAT WE GOT TODAY:

LET’S BOOGIE…

MIDJOURNEY: PARAMETER CHEAT SHEET

Midjourney has been shipping like crazy.

It’s hard for me to keep up with.

Sooo I’ve updated the parameter cheat sheet for all the new V7 developments.

MIDJOURNEY: RELEASES MULTIPLE NEW FEATURES

Like I said…I go away for a week and it’s all different.

NEW ADDITIONS:

  1. Omni-Reference: Consistent Characters/Objects

  2. Omni-Weight Parameter: Controls Omni Ref

  3. Exp Parameter: Dynamic Aesthetics Parameter

Naturally, I had to take it for a test drive.

FULL OMNI-REF POST → HERE

PROCESS:

  1. Create a base image

  2. Use image as OREF

  3. Edit facial exp in prompt

  4. Generate + iteratE

OREF PROMPT STRUCTURE: portrait photography, [perspective], [subject description], [facial expression/detail]. white studio with soft lighting and shadows. high precision 85 mm photography --ar 3:4 --p --ow 150 --oref [image link]

EX PROMPT: portrait photography, {front, diagonal, side profile} face view, man with red beard and bald head, {laughing emphatically, screaming, tongue out-mouth open}, worn facial expressions. white studio with soft lighting and shadows. high precision 85 mm photography --ar 3:4 --profile 4luohh5 --ow 150 --oref [image link]

This doesn’t just work for facial expressions.

You can also do this for body position/actions also.

(We went deep in our latest episode of Midjourney Fast Hours)

PUTTING CHARACTERS IN SCENES:

You can push this further and start to add characters to scenes.

It starts to get a little more complex.

But this feature will improve over time.

FULL CONSISTENT CHARACTER POST → HERE

PUTTING OBJECTS IN SCENES:

This was Midjourney’s biggest jump IMO…and this was always a problem.

I wouldn’t do this with small/text logos…but with more structured products/objects/automobiles…it works really well.

So much more testing to come.

Stay tuned…

MIDJOURNEY: EXP PARAMETER

MJ just released their “--exp” parameter.

My thoughts - It’s sort of like their new version of “stylize”

It adds more detail and makes images more dynamic. (I kinda love it)

HERE’S SOME EXAMPLES → FULL POST

EXP PARAMETER:

  • What it does: More/less “exploration”

  • Values: 0-100

  • Default: 0

  • Structure: --exp 10

It seems to add more creative detailing (w/o going overboard.)

And feels like “stylize” did back in V5 + early V6.

PROMPT: editorial photo, closeup front view shot of Acura NSX racing car, intricate 90's ugly pattern paint job, cool gray and sharp purple lime green color scheme, contrasting colors, high energy, glossy shimmering paint with soft studio lighting accentuating the contours, 85mm high precision photography, crisp white studio environment with polished reflective surfaces --ar 3:2 --exp {0, 100} --p kma6ewh --oref [img link] --ow 60

RUNWAY: RELEASES REFERENCES

Another week…another development in character consistency.

Runway recently released their “References” feature. (it’s good)

FULL POST → CHECK IT OUT

PROCESS:

  1. Upload or create base image in RW

  2. Drag image to "reference"

  3. Create prompt + generate.

RUNWAY REF EX PROMPT: cinematic side profile shot of a man sprinting in the desert towards battle kicking up dust in his wake.. He is wearing a crown with horns and he has a big oversized teeth. holding a war hammer in his hand. Stark white and beige color scheme, bleached colors with defined textures.

VIRTUAL TRY-ON: MODEL COMPARISON

With all these “reference” options available…I had to put them to the test.

Testing MJ Omni Reference / Gemini / ChatGPT.

The results were pretty impressive.

THOUGHTS:

  • 1.5 months ago we couldn't do this

  • Now we have (3) tools that make it easy

  • MJ worked better than expected + good detail

  • MJ needs more TLC...but it's worth it

  • Gemini outputs low-res (needs upscale)

  • But good translation from all products

  • ChatGPT had good translation but lacks detail

  • But the process with Flora+Krea is super easy

Not perfect..but much better than what we’ve had.

  • So we cut the back-and-forth time on “does this fit the brand?

  • And we focus on strategy, visual firepower, and iteration.

The best part?…If we can’t do it with Ai…we have 500+ traditionally trained world-class designers…who can do it by hand.

Have a design problem that needs solving? (We like those)

It’s worth a convo (at the very minimum).
