And it’s nothing short of incredible. (Yes, I’m biased)

It was unexpected…it was early…it’s awesome.

MIDJOURNEY: RELEASES 1ST VIDEO MODEL

Unless you exited society…you know MJ dropped their video model.

I wasn’t expecting much…but I wasn’t expecting this.

They knocked it out of the park.

IF YOU MISSED IT → CHECK IT OUT HERE

WHAT’S NEW:

• Available to everyone (now)

• Currently only Image-2-Video

• 5 second generations + extend 5s

• Low or High motion options

• Auto-prompt or manual prompting

• (4) outputs per generation

• 480p / 24fps output

QUICK THOUGHTS:

• In true MJ fashion...there's a vibe.

• And it feels very familiar...but different

• The render time is very fast

• Style permanence is remarkable

• Some complex styles are just not possible

• On other video generators

• Camera/Subject movement is great

• Creativity beyond initial frame is awesome

• Coherence has been good so far

• Extend feature works very well

• And you can extend multiple times

• 480p is ok (not ideal...but quality is good)

• Upscaled to 1080p with Topaz Astra.

Here’s some other things I’ve tested…

EXTEND:

Extending videos has been an issue on other generators. They typically lose their style or pacing (not with MJ now). You can extend a video (5s) up to 4 times. (20s clip in total) Spolier alert…it’s good. Below, I ran this image 4 times and it was able to animate it seamlessly from clip-to-clip.

UNLIMITED ASPECT RATIOS:

One big issue with Ai video has been reframing images to fit the video generators. For example…Veo3 can only handle 16:9 aspect ratio. Kling is good, but maybe not with every aspect ratio. Midjourney can handle all of them. I even tested random ar’s like {--ar 122:407, --ar 1041:122, etc}…All of them worked.

MOTION GRAPHICS:

So I wasn’t expecting this. Believe me…it’s not perfect…but this was pretty impressive for auto-prompt. It took the moodboard and animated it like a motion graphic.

Couldn’t have been better timed with the release of MJ Video. Topaz Astra is the first video upscaler built for Ai-generated video. And it does more than upscale, it add’s creative detail/texture as well.

WEAVY: THE NEW WAY TO CREATE WITH AI

If you missed this one…it’s time to jump in. Last week WEAVY was released to the public. I had early access and beta-tested the tool for about a month. (And i’m really impressed). It’s essentially comfy-ui without the headaches.

Honestly, this the first tool that’s made me consider dropping Photoshop.

KREA 1: Krea released their first image model. It’s pretty damn good and very malleable. So I trained some LORA model’s and created a vintage 1980’s style music video.

MIDJOURNEY SREF RELEASE: Midjourney released a new version of their SREF feature. It’s legit…and they added a whole new system for SREF Code mining. (We talk about it on the podcast…but here’s some new codes)

FLUX KONTEXT: Flux recently released their competition to ChatGPT/Gemini/Runway References/MJ Omni-ref. Took it for a very stupid test drive.
