Absolutely Massive Midjourney Update.

It's getting interesting.

Fam,

Did Midjourney just change the game?

The answer is…yes.

You can now create your own “custom style.”

And add it as a parameter. (whenever you need it).

Here’s the full breakdown

If you missed it:

Here is the link to the Beginner’s Guide to Midjourney Personalized Style.

(Leaving this free for the next 24 hours)

Here’s the thing…

This was billed as a tool to help beginners “find their style.”

In reality…

The Midjourney maniacs will love this.

No more digging back through thousands of images to find “that” prompt.

Here’s a quick snapshot of the process:

  • Type “/tune” into the prompt bar

  • Enter a prompt

  • Hit Submit

  • (Midjourney will provide you a link)

  • Click the link

  • Choose your style preferences

  • (Midjourney will then provide you a custom “parameter”)

  • Copy parameter

  • Build your prompt

  • Add “--style” to the end of the prompt.

  • Then paste your custom parameter.

  • Hit submit.

It should look like this:

land rover defender in cusco peru --style jo6aL9xt

This was my “custom style”: --style jo6aL9xt

Try it out…let me know how it works.

Here’s a few tips for the maniacs:

Base Prompts (before you tune):

  • Image prompts can be used in base prompts for tune.

  • You can use the (--ar) and (--c) parameters in tune.

  • You cannot use the (--s) or (--weird) parameters in tune.

  • You cannot use custom styles in base prompts either.

Style Preferences + Prompts:

  • Every selection you make on the “preferences page” alters the style.

  • More selections = more unique style

  • Less selections = more defined style

  • You can add multiple styles to one photo. (i’ll show you below)

  • You cannot use the “weird” parameter with a custom style parameter.

Linking Multiple Styles:

  • Want to get even more dynamic?

  • Link multiple styles together.

  • All you have to do is copy the codes

  • Add one dash (-) to link them together

This is what it looks like:

--style jo6aL9xt-48PM6CVaf5-2gDZNwMAkMyb

Mind Your Hours:

Each time you use tune you will use GPU hours.

MJ’s sneaky way of making you pay more money. (Very smart)

When you train MJ on your style it will give you either 16, 32, 64, or 128 options to select from.

Here’s what they cost:

  • 16 Style Directions: 0.15 Hours

  • 32 Style Directions: 0.3 Hours

  • 64 Style Directions: 0.6 Hours

  • 128 Style Directions: 1.3 Hours

It gets addicting…real quick.

And it’s a lot of tinkering to get what you want.

So mind your hours.

Where does this go?…

The use cases will pile in over the next few weeks.

Here are my thoughts:

  • Businesses can now actually leverage this.

  • Style can be defined…and everything you prompt can be “branded”

  • Outputs will begin to look radically different.

  • People will reverse engineer brand & artist styles more. (already happening)

  • This might open up a greater “copyright” conversation.

  • Not just for the data it was trained on.

  • But does the creator have copyright over their custom style?

Things to try:

  • Use /describe to find new term elements

  • Then test the prompts with /shorten for optimal structures.

  • That should save you some GPU hours.

  • Get weird…some of these outputs were never possible before.

Announcements:

It’s been a long time coming.

But Systematiq.ai will be launching in a few weeks.

Ironing out the kinks, but amped to share that with everyone.

Stay tuned…(this is a teaser)
