I tried to do some of the heavy lifting…FOR YOU.

RUNWAY GEN-3 LIGHTING TECHNIQUES:

Last week we focused on shot types and camera movement.

This week we’re focusing on LIGHTING.

Again, the majority of the lighting techniques you use in Midjourney…

Can be translated to Runway Gen-3.

Let’s take a look:

LIGHTING IS IMPORTANT:

Lighting can shape the emotion and construction of an image.

So utilize it in Runway.

Here’s (12) Tokens to Try:

1. High-Key: Bright, evenly lit scene

2. Low-Key: Dark, contrasty scene

3. Back Light: Light source behind the subject

4. Silhouette: Dark shape against bright background.

5. Chiaroscuro: Dramatic contrast

6. Volumetric Lighting: Light in hazy environments.

7. Strobe Lighting: Rapid flashes

8. Light Painting: Moving lights create streaks

9. Warm Lighting: Yellow-orange tones, cozy feel

10. Cool Lighting: Blue-green tints, calm mood

11. Over-Exposed: Bright, washed-out dreaminess

12. Ethereal: Soft, diffused otherworldly glow

USING LIGHT TOKENS

Here’s a simple prompt structure to try.

Prompt Structure: [shot type], [subject + action], [lighting], [lighting description]

Example Prompt: closeup shot of man wearing sunglasses walking in the Tokyo streets, Strobe Lighting, Rapid flashes creating a staccato effect.

AI CREATIVE PROCESS BREAKDOWN:

Last week we talked about reimagining the Ad Creative Process with AI.

(If you missed the post from last week → Check it HERE)

This week we’re going a little deeper…

Under the hood of what we’ve been working on with Superside ↓

SOLVING SMALL ISSUES WITH AI.

So here’s a little example of an Ai thought process:

• Problem: We want to create more brand images (but we don’t want to do a photoshoot)

• Solution: Use LoRA models with Stable Diffusion to create precise brand images.

Now, that seems like a simple problem/solution…but…

We often forget you need 50-200 solid images to train a LORA model in Stable Diffusion.

So we create a new problem…

• Problem: Not enough brand images to train LORA.

• Solution: Utilize Midjourney to expand the asset database.

CREATING NEW DATASETS:

We use functions like SREF/Image Reference in MJ to transfer styles from img-to-img.

Then…we utilize the newly created images in Midjourney + Brand Assets…to create a new data set.

This allows us to train a LORA model on a brand’s style.

Resulting in infinite image generation → That’s a good thing.

This is one of 100’s of workflows we’re optimizing at Superside.

BEYOND MJ: ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR MOCKUP AI

I know we have a few Adobe users on this newsletter.

I’m a fan of this NEW FEATURE because it cuts out some of the BS.

Making product mockups is tedious (especially if you want good ones)

So this new “MOCKUP” feature on Adobe Illustrator is helpful.

(A quick thank you to DESIGN MAVERICK for the gif above)

HOW TO USE IT:

Pretty simple…but there are a few things you have to know.

PROCESS:

1. Download Adobe Illustrator Beta

2. Open a New Doc

3. Add a Midjourney image (placeholder)

4. Upload your vector file

5. Highlight both layers 

6. Select “Object → Mockup → Make”

7. Maneuver your mockup.

Quick Hitters:

• Your design/logo NEEDS to be in vector format (not png)

• Or it WILL NOT work

• The base/mockup image CAN be a PNG/JPEG

• Illustrator has stock images to mock up also

• So you don’t need to add mockup-template
